If you’ve been following our twitter feed, or reading The Icing News, you may have noticed that we’ve made a few subtle mentions of Montreal’s upcoming Cupcake Camp. This fantastic local event takes place this Sunday, November 21st, and raises money for two charities: Kids Help Phone / Jeunesse J’écoute and La Tablée des Chefs, and we’re pleased as punch to be one of their sponsors for the second year in a row.
Cupcake Camp Montreal works like this: Local restaurants, amateur bakers and professional cupcake makers donate cupcakes by the dozen or by the hundreds, and local cupcake enthusiasts donate $10 to charity in exchange for three cupcakes and a coffee on the day of the event. Visitors get cupcakes, bakers get admiration (and sometimes great prizes), and Cupcake Camp gets to make a significant donation to local charities – everyone wins!
As of last night, they are counting more than 20,000 cupcakes donated. WOW! We have a feeling you’ll be able to smell the sugar from miles away on Sunday!
Of course, as Cupcake Camp tweeted themselves a few weeks ago, we’re the ONLY sponsor of the event with “cake” in our name that actually has nothing to do with baking. But while we might not be bakers, we do love cake, love giving back to our community through charitable events like this, AND we love our customers. So…
We’re excited to announce that, for the second year in a row, we’ll be delivering cupcakes (for free!) from Cupcake Camp directly to our Montreal-based clients, on Monday November 22nd.
On Sunday, we’ll be on site at Cupcake Camp to pack up more than 100 dozen cupcakes (say that three times fast!), and we’ll be putting the whole Montreal office on the road on Monday with cars full of cupcakes and many, MANY stops to make in Montreal and the surrounding area. If you’re a Montreal-based CakeMail client, keep an eye out for us!
