[v5] How to clean contact list

Maintaining a clean list with engaged contacts can be a tedious task but is very important and can really help get your email in the inbox and to get better open rates.

If you have proof of consent or permission of your list, here is the process we suggest you perform by following those steps:

  • Click on contacts
  • Click on add
  • Click on Create Groups
  • Add a new rule
  • Select “Has opened” and then select a campaign from the last 6 to 12 months
  • Click on add a rule, and do this for all the campaigns from the last 6 months
  • Add a new rule
  • Select “Has clicked on any link” and then select a campaign from the last 6 to 12 months.

From here, you can export the csv file of the contacts who want to receive your newsletters and upload them in a new contact list.

If you need to have more than one list keep in mind that:

  • People might be confused why they’re still receiving newsletters from you if they unsubscribed from a previous mailing
  • You won’t have the history of all their interactions with your mailings from within a single screen
  • You’ll be billed twice for the same contact

To create a new contact list in your account please do the following:

  • Click on Contacts
  • Click on new contact list

Please make sure that you have selected the correct language, since this will be the language of your welcome and confirmation emails that gets sent automatically when new subscribers sign up online. Changes won’t apply to those emails if you decide to change the language of the list in the future.
